Two years after poisonous black bugs filled the skies, fourteen-year-old Bernie has learned to survive the brutal Florida wilderness with little more than a carbon-fiber rod, a scavenged hunting knife, and a reinforced vintage Airstream. But as a (potentially) monster hurricane rolls in from the Gulf, the storm brings something far more dangerous out of the swamp and right onto her doorstep.
